MAJORS RETURNS FOR PRACTICE:
   Tennessee football coach Johnny Majors, who had quintuple 
bypass surgery Aug. 25, was at practice Monday, returning to the 
job a month ahead of schedule. Majors bristled at the suggestion 
that his early return had anything to do with the 3-0 start by the 
No. 9 Vols. Led by interim coach Phillip Fulmer, Tennessee upset 
Georgia and Florida the last two weeks.
    
JURY PICKED FOR NFL TRIAL:
   A federal jury of five women and three men was picked Monday to 
decide how much money is owed members of 1989 NFL developmental 
squads, who were found to be victims of illegal price-fixing. 
Opening arguments in the case were scheduled for Tuesday by U.S. 
District Judge Royce Lamberth, who ruled in March that the NFL 
violated antitrust laws when it paid $1,000 a week for each 
rookie.
    
NEW SUIT SEEKS FREEDOM:
   The NFL Players Association announced Monday that a new 
class-action antitrust suit seeking freedom for all players not 
under contract after 1992 has been filed in federal district court 
in Minneapolis. All-Pro defensive lineman Reggie White of 
Philadelphia is the lead plaintiff. Another Eagle, tight end Keith 
Jackson, and nine other unsigned players are scheduled for a 
hearing Tuesday.
    
REMBERT MAY MISS MORE TIME:
   Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Reggie Rembert, who missed 
last week's game because of an impacted wisdom tooth, could miss 
another. He may be sidelined because of NFL-ordered testing for 
possible alcohol or substance abuse. Coach Dave Shula said Monday 
he didn't know if Rembert would return to the team in time for 
Sunday's game with the Minnesota Vikings.
