A record 351 entries were put on the disabled list, 15% more than 1991 and more than double the 165 of '82. Given today's enormous contracts, clubs and players are more cautious. Also, rules now allow more players to be put on the DL and more advanced diagnostic equipment reveals more injuries. FOREMAN TO FIGHT ON HBO: George Foreman, irked because he cannot land a second heavyweight championship bout, has agreed to a three-fight, $18 million deal with Home Box Office. Foreman said Wednesday that he might sign the contract by Friday. The first bout would be Jan. 23. He will be on the same card with Tommy Morrison. Their opponents have not been chosen. If both win, they'll rumble next spring. MILLS WILL PLAY FOR PISTONS: Terry Mills will play for the Detroit Pistons. The New Jersey Nets failed to match a five-year, $9.4 million offer. Mills' deal includes a $2 million signing bonus and $5.5 million loan. Mills, 6-foot-10, 230 pounds, is a Michigan native and had expressed a desire to return home. For the Nets, Mills averaged 9.0 points and 5.5 rebounds in 82 games, 24 of them starts, last season. $$%2 This article is copyright 1992 Gannett News Service.
