Johnson, who announced Tuesday he was coming out of a one-season retirment, has two seasons left on his $2.5 million-a-season pact. NCAA PUNISHES SYRACUSE: The NCAA grounded Syracuse University's powerful men's basketball team Thursday, barring it from the 1993 NCAA tournament and imposing scholarship and recruiting restrictions because of recruiting violations. Penalties also were levied in wrestling and men's lacrosse, and the athletic program was put on NCAA probation for two years. In all, it was guilty of violations in five sports. TORONTO, MILWAUKEE BATTLE ON: The Toronto Blue Jays, no strangers to needing wins on the final weekend, haven't clinched the American League East. And the Milwaukee Brewers are still alive.
