NFL OWNERS TACKLE IMPASSE:
   In what has become a routine, NFL owners will discuss possible 
solutions to the five-year labor impasse Tuesday to open a two-day 
fall meeting in Chicago. The lengthy agenda is anything but 
routine. It includes reports on everything from Super Bowl XXVII 
to stashing players and strike funds. Commissioner Paul Tagliabue 
said the NFL has a "two-track approach" for the labor impasse.
    
HISTORY TO BE MADE IN GAME 3:
   There have been subway, cross-country and interstate Series. 
Tuesday, for the first time in baseball history, the World Series 
has to clear customs. Canada hosts its first World Series game at 
8:29 p.m. ET in the SkyDome as the Toronto Blue Jays take on the 
Atlanta Braves in Game 3. The Series is tied 1-1.Blue Jays' Juan 
Guzman pitches against the Braves' Steve Avery.
    
BULLETS, GUGLIOTTA MAKE DEAL:
   The Washington Bullets finally signed their top draft pick, 
former North Carolina State forward Tom Gugliotta, slipping under 
the NBA's salary cap by giving him a seven-year contract Monday. 
It is the longest contract ever signed by a member of the Bullets, 
although Gugliotta has the option of terminating the deal after 
the 1994-95 season.
    
MARLINS SUED BY CLASS A TEAM:
   A minor league baseball club sued the Florida Marlins Monday, 
charging that the National League's expansion team stole its name, 
logo and territory without paying for them. The Class A Miami 
Miracle requested in papers filed in New York Supreme Court that 
the Marlins be barred from drafting or signing any players until 
the issue of compensation for the minor league club is resolved.
