Minutes of the SIPB Meeting of 07/11/2005

The meeting was called to order at 19:31 by kchen.

In attendance were 
	Voting members: kchen, janetryu, arolfe
	Associate members: asedeno, hartmans, jhawk, deberg
	Prospectives: awozniak, tabbott, danjared, cporter, yoz
	Guests: ricardo (from spain!)

Treasurer's Report:

arolfe: new school year, more money, no numbers. 
cporter: treasurer know flood reimbursement figures?
arolfe: all the books, need to deal with milquetoast and computers
	and no word on the carpet
hartmans: when or if?
jhawk: mike foley (cac asst dir) assures 'when', not 'if'

Chairman's Report:

Zip.

Office Report:

woz: can we clean? do we have to wait for carpet? 
jhawk: things should go back temporarily
janetryu: wait, where they did go or where they will go?
hartmans: now's a good time as any to throw things out,
	  before we put everything back.
asedeno: carpet or other?
jhawk: oh, carpet, but need to tidy up. real cleaning lots of work.
arolfe: when it's time for the office to be cleaned [woz], we'll let
	you do it.

(the office sux0rz. we should clean, and maybe put things up a bit
even before we get carpet. should consider a potential new organization
scheme, ie where things should go, since nothing's where it used to be
anyhow. serious work should wait until we have new carpet, however.
an ounce of care, on the other hand... whoever wants to clean is welcome
to it.)

Office Cleaning Report:

cporter: office is a pit
jhawk: not a squishy pit, this week.
janetryu: doesn't smell as bad, though.

MIT Computing Report:

arolfe: Something which accepts news feeds and sends them to Senator 
Bedfellow lost a disk, but it's been fixed? 

cporter: do we have any more spare disks
arolfe: we took the spare disk from another RAID, so, we have no spares
jhawk: we're still short a disk?
arolfe: stated recovery plan is UFS, we're full.

Publications Report:

jhawk: A. OK.

Orientation Report:

awozniak: need more ideas for the midway other than sportscasting, tatoos
	  and scantily clad women in SIPB t-shirts
hartmans: the internet is for porn
yoz: interesting locations for computer tours wanted

cporter: is it fixed?
everyone: she already fixed it.
kchen: is insurance covering food?
arolfe: unknown.

Other:

hartmans: cokecom was in a play this weekend. it was really good.
cporter: midway should have a camera + transformers to change 
	 stuff to cool video
hjawk: that would be sportscast
cporter: or fractals. every loves fractals.

asedeno: what happened to the angie angie angie report?
arolfe: jhawk took it away.
jhawk: xml still sucks a lot.
