He’s been working on MacAthena, been around the office, been helpful to members and users. <8-0-0, motion passes> nelhage: We’ll probably do the election in two weeks. nelhage: SIPB officer elections next week, for officers and EC members. If you wish to remove yourself from the eligible list and won’t be at the meeting, email the chairman. You can send in absentee ballots for EC members at large. nelhage: I think we still have a lot of money. We should spend some of it. MIT Computing Report: geofft: The registration server kept dying and getting kicked periodically. kaduk: Zephyr logs were rotated today for the beginning of the semester. quentin: Printer logs were rotated. I don’t know what that means. SIPB Projects Report: broder: MacAthena had its “launch” last Wednesday to great fanfare and an attendance of five people. I’m starting to talk to locker maintainers. broder: Currently we’re using a source distribution, and I’m interested in getting a build server. Move to allocate $875 for a Mac Mini and an external hard drive to build onto. asedeno: How do you rackmount a Mac Mini? broder: I’m told there’s room next to debuild. <8-0-0, motion passes> nelhage: arolfe has some reports from the crufy machine room services department. The new AFS servers have arrived. rosebud has been upgraded to the new machine. Assuming it doesn’t fall over, arolfe will upgrade ronald-ann tonight. nelhage: There was a news outage from late Saturday until this morning; it seems one of the external SCSI connections came loose. quentin: scripts deployed its pagtokens patch this weekend. On scripts you can get a new PAG, kinit and aklog with your own keytab, and do whatever you want with those tokens. geofft: You are encouraged not to put your own tokens on scripts, but we will request a daemon principal for you if you have a vhost. quentin: We finally started setting up syn.mit.edu, the monitoring server. Currently it’s monitoring scripts, linerva, and sipb-xen. Email me if you have a service that should be monitored. Office Report: broder: It’s still here. nelhage: The forest of cables in laptop land is really quite impressive, but they seem to be all in use. geofft: jhawk says there’s a thing you can get that lets you string power cables from the ceiling safely. nelhage: I finally ordered hard copies of Intel Architecture processor documentation. I ordered eight copies of the five-volume set. I told them I was from MIT and it seemed to be okay. Education Report: quentin: IAP is sooner than you think. nelhage: Last IAP is over, we ran a bunch of classes, and they seemed to be quite successful. price managed to attract the entire Haskell community from the greater Cambridge area to his talk.
