Project Updates
===============

achernya: Yesterday, geofft and I ran CLEANRUVs on the Scripts servers
in order to remove the old LDAP servers from the pool. This affects none
of you in no visible way. [adehnert: In no visible way?] I probably got the
wording wrong.

maria89: Not so much an update, but I was interested if anyone was interested
in working on Waverly. Waverly is a collaborative editor like Google Docs
or Etherpad, but better, so we can write LaTeX documents or code in it,
i.e. some sort of plugin. But the most important thing is that it will
be open source.

bbaren: We got a new heatsink for m-k-c. It has been installed, and it works
properly. I've verified this by running CPU Burn on m-k-c. I'm now starting
to get it back into the state that it can be usable. I've installed Debathena
Oneiric, it boots, but you cannot log in, because of *mumble*. I'm working
to repair the Natty installation, which got corrupted because the processor
overheated during the upgrade. If you have local state on m-k-c, you should
probably talk to me. I'm doing my best not to nuke local state, but it's hard.

ine: In terms of SIPB IAP scheduling, we have nine new scheduling, and almost
all rolled over from last year. Everything is online at SIPB IAP. Anne Hunter
asked us if we were interested in co-sponsoring a coding competition. It's
sponsored by WinWood, it begins on January 8th, it's coding an AI. [dwilson: What
expectations is a co-sponsorship supposed to mean?] From what I know, it's
just letting them use our name. [afarrell: Yeah, I didn't think it said anything
else.] [ezyang: I'd like to know more.] [dwilson: Send some email to sipb-office.
I think it is a reasonable thing to do, but I'd like to know more.]

wwhitney: I'm one of the organizers for the MIT Startup Club. ine thought
you guys might be interested. We're just interested in getting people together,
building cool shit, and possible turning it into a company. We've been running
talks and weekly dev shops on Saturdays. It's very casual. We've got big
plans for the rest of the year, and probably a summer program. So if you're
interested, go to startup.mit.edu
