Minutes of the SIPB Meeting of 2011-12-19


The meeting was called to order by dwilson at 19:30.

dwilson: I won't be here next week. I suspect a lot of us won't either.
Also, W20 will be closed, so if someone is around, feel free to run a meeting
in Lobby 7.

Project Updates
===============

achernya: Scripts installed the new RAM, so we now have two servers with
40G of RAM physical. Nothing exploded.

ezyang: Wordpress was upgraded to 3.3

dwilson: There will be IAP classes. Talk to ine. [golem: Are they still
putting things in the guide?] [jhawk: It's electric now!]

geofft: We're having some Debian bug squashing party in January.

pquimby: NPR went black about 20 minutes ago. [achernya: Hm?] They started talking
about North Korea, and then they stopped.

dwilson: Kim-Jong Il is dead.

geofft: Web security is very confusing.  This makes it hard to grade web security psets.

tlyu: Even during finals, apparently MIT students still find time to scrounge
a large pile of DEC stations from a reuse pile in less than 24 hours.

tlyu: This will show up on IAP calendar, but Amy will be running a ham radio licensing
class jointly with W1MX; two sessions, one will be on Jan 11, and one will be a cram
session preceding the licensing exam on the 18th.  Details, talk to thessaly.

jhawk: 4.4 > 5.4, I especially think with Mac OS X. However, the poster fell off the wall.

dwilson: Merry Christmas and meeting adjourned.
