Minutes of the SIPB Meeting of 2012-11-26


The meeting was called to order at <start-time> by achernya.

	glasgall: Are we ever going to get the new couch?
	achernya: I'd say to ask christy or mitchb, but neither are here right now.
	glasgall: Can we get the board to talk to them?
	jhawk: Speak with them online.

	vasilvv: What's up with the CSW replacement?
	achernya: Apple is not shipping new iMacs yet.
	jhawk: It heard we were going to replace it and got sad.

SIPB Projects Report:
	dlaw: There was no cluedump last week. This week Adam Chlipala
		will talk about Ur/Web. It will be very exciting!
		Wednesday at 8:30 PM in 4-231.
	dove: IAP is sooner than you'd like. I've been sending
		e-mails with scheduling stuff. If you don't reply,
		I'll assume that it works.

	achernya: linerva has its highest uptime in a year. Please
		enjoy your continued linerva uptime.
	glasgall: You know you just cursed it, right?
	achernya: Yeah, I'm doing it on purpose. It has 1000 more
		processes than I can explain.

Other:
	vasilvv: Yesterday, I discovered that thornhump was running
		Ubuntu 11.04, so I reinstalled it to 12.04. In
		general, I want to raise the question of versions of
		Ubuntu running on the office heads. We have several
		running 12.04, and two running 10.04. Do we really
		need 10.04? Is there any reason we can't upgrade them?
	glasgall: It's useful to have a 32-bit computer, but there's
		no reason it has to be 10.04.
	achernya: MKC has an install of every Ubuntu ever since 8.

	jhawk: I'm concerned about the lack of debugging development
		in course 6, especially with the MITx courses. I'd
		love to hear if we're doing something about this.
	achernya: We should have an e-mail thread and figure out what
		to do.
	dove: Someone should teach an IAP course.
