Minutes of the SIPB Meeting of 2014-01-13


The meeting was called to order at 19:30 by dove.

In attendance were

Administrivia:
        dvorak42: As discussed at last meeting, after meeting going to
		machine room to discuss SIPBN passwords.
	dove: We got an email from Shauna Gordon-McKeon who remembers
		organizing OpenHatch thing?
	achernya: We never had an OpenHatch event.
	dove: Allegedly we did.
	achernya: Then it must have been asheesh himself. I remember
		there was a event they did, I didn't remember it being
		OpenHatch at the time.
	glasgall: Totally cool thing. I personally have zero time.
	achernya: I would like to suggest someone not affiliated with
		the mob of 6.828.
	[glasgall determines that everyone is hosed]
	tboning: If you have an outstanding RFP, please get it to
		me. If you think you should have been reimbursed for
		an RFP that you've already given me, let me
		know. Also, I'm probably going to be doing an office
		supplies order soon. If you think the office is
		missing something that it should have, talk to me.
	
SIPB Projects Report:
        glasgall: SIPB 6.828 has completed its first week. Nobody's
		dead yet. The possiblity remains that course will kill
		the staff.
	achernya: I'm currently terrified because I have to give a 2
		hr lecture tomorrow. It's going to be interesting.
	glasgall: The takeaway is that the professors cannot go on
		sabattical again.
	dove: In other news, those of us involved in 6.828 are not
		going to have any other news for the rest of IAP.

Other:
        tboning: omalley1 has a Python class for IAP.
	dove: Did we get a room for that?
	elubin: We got a larger room, but not as large as we asked for. 
	jhawk: What did we offer to trade?


Other Other:
        elubin: Eat brownies so I don't have to.
	elubin: Mike Rolish who I don't know is coming in from NY to
		teach an emacs class on Monday. 5-6. It'll be cool.

	jhawk: Professor Roberge died on Friday.

	glasgll: Not sure how to follow that up, but, SIPB IAP Git is
		happening on Wednesday. If you're interested in Git
		you should go.

	cereslee: Mystery Hunt is this weekend and will end by no later than Sunday at noon.
 
	tboning: THis weekend there was a CTF hands on. Run by myself
		and dvorak42 with the help of LL and MITCTF. It was
		pretty good.
	dzafaen: If ever you feel like having a break from hosage and
		like going on an adventure and/or watering plants, you
		can go to WebMoira to the list an-adventure.
	dove: We're brainstorming making it take longer. It's a Moira
		adventure game. The rules are not really stated. Don't
		use blanche.
	glasgall: How long did it take you to do this?
	dzafaen: I don't remember. I was bored one afternoon.
	dove: As you will quickly disover, there is an opportunity for
		people to create their own rooms. Read the
		descriptions and read the lists.
