We're meeting with John Charles at the end of the week. glasgall: We should clean the office; along those lines, throw out your trash. glasgall: The Athena DEFCON sign is blocking on finding a replacement for one of the parts that's backordered on Digikey. glasgall: We should have a new Code of Conduct draft out tomorrow. dove: We moved lola (it's now turned around) so that you can use it with the projector more easily. achernya: We had a really awesome hackjob for watching the Olympics. It only required three office heads! dove: Someone should write a script for forwarding PulseAudio to zsr so we can use it. SIPB Projects Report: achernya: On Saturday davidben and I decided to start working on the new Roost backend; David was working on a pure Go implementation of zephyr, and I was working on a pure Go implementation of Hesiod. dove: We had a productive conversation about Roost frontend design; I think thenext step is actually writing the code to make it happen. glasgall: xvm ordered new RAID. Once it's hooked up, we'll be able to attempt upgrading firmware in the hopes that i'll make it not crashy. achernya: Unlike the current RAIDs we have which are proprietary blobs, this will be a proper Linux server with libdisk. achernya: Scripts hackathon this Saturday. asedeno: git 1.9.0 came out last week, and got put in the locker. New Prospective Introductions: zoz: I'm zoz, I've been a prospective since 98. I designed punched card replica invitations to the SIPB reunion, I ran www.mit.edu until IS&T asked us for it. I wrote the Ask SIPB DMCA takedown column. iannucci: Would it be out of bounds for me to nominate you? dove: Second. zoz: I accept the nomination. [Nomination passes.] zoz: I did get nominated once before, and they said I hadn't been to enough meetings. They didn't look back far enough. Other: glasgall: If you have one of the new thinkpads without physical buttons for the trackpoint, you might be interested in tpscrolld, which makes physical scrolling work. It's on my github. tboning: Apple released a critical iOS security patch; they weren't handling SSL certificate verification properly. If you have an iOS device, upgrade it now. OS X is also affected, but there is no patch. achernya: We have a SIPB member who works at Apple; when 10.9 came out, he said not to upgrade and wait to 10.9.1. glasgall: The next Ubuntu LTS, Trusty Tahr, is in feature freeze. At some point, there will be a Debathena Trusty release. Also, Ubuntu has announced they'll be switching to systemd. Other Other: zoz: I'm zoz, I've been a prospective since 98. I designed punched card replica invitations to the SIPB reunion, I ran www.mit.edu achernya: Previous Debathena builds all had a SVN repo; we'd check it out and run this scary script that would run scarier scripts that would munge build scripts. It made builds unreproducable. A couple months ago we decided to migrate Debathena into git, so I did a full migration while sharding it into separate git repos. vasilvv have been converting things into git build package format. We're almost at the point where we can build the entire Debathena repo; vasilvv worked on the build scripts more. glasgall: The Linux container tools hit 1.0 this past week. The meeting was adjourned at 19:51. Minutes taken and submitted by phurst.
