Minutes of the SIPB Meeting of 2014-03-17


The meeting was called to order at 19:30 by dvorak42

In attendance were

Administrivia:
        glasgall: We have a banner. It's awesome.

        dvorak42: The Stripe shirts are in, if you asked for one pick one up.

        dvorak42: PulseAudio has been solved for lola to ZSR; details are in
		/afs/sipb/office/pulse-audio-forwarding.txt.

        dvorak42: LibrePlanet is happening this Sunday.

        glasgall: Isn't CPW sooner than we think?
        codetaku: I registerd our events.
        glasgall: We should start thinking about the necessary implementation details.
        codetaku: It's 3 weeks from this Thursday; AFAIk ASA doesn't have booth
		registration for Midway yet, but I'll take care when they do. I won't be
		participating since that's PAX weekend.

SIPB Projects Report:
        jbarker: I'm in the process of working on the Roost authorization stuff;
		I've discovered where in davidben's code the auth takes place, and we're
		going to move that into the new version at some point.


        glasgall: XVM's new RAID is finally here. It hasn't been set up because nobody has time.
        dvorak42: It's been racked; it'll hopefully have Precise installed this Wednesday.

        ?: I'm working on a new project; it's a mailing list reader and
		archiver, like discuss but centralized. It's for public mailing lists
		only, it gives you a high-level idea of all the public mailing lists at
		MIT. I'm still figuring out a name; I started implementing it about a
		week ago. It's all web-based.

Other:
        sparrow: A whole bunch of APs are broken because of the power outage; it
		was short, but the magic smoke got let out.
        zoz: It might have something to do with how the power went out; we might
		have lost a leg of one of our three-phase.
        tboning: Random had a similar outage last weekend; they're probably unrelated.
        ?: For this outage, we're talking about maybe 5% of the access points,
		so that's not a lot.
        dvorak42: The machine room was on emergency power for about an hour;
		jhawk and vasilvv were monitoring it, but power went on before it went
		out.
        iannucci: Do we know how long we have?
        dvorak42: Two of them are up to two hours.

        ?: Happy Evacuation Day.
