Minutes of the SIPB Meeting of 2014-08-11

The meeting was called to order at 1930 by dove.

Administrivia:
dove: Feel like there's administrivia. We need a new poster. People have messaged on thread. Will reply on thread with specs as to what it needs to be, link to logo, vector format; information on ASA website. 

achernya: On my way to SIPB, I saw some confused posterers. They were confused when I told them what they were doing. Plausible explanation?

dove: We always thought that might be. 

jhawk: It's undisputed that if you don't maintain...

achernya: It's with student group board that they're like that. We've witnessed people screwing up. 

SIPB Projects Report:
jdreed: I guess debathena's a project. 

dove: Maybe. 

jdreed: Definitely a maybe. Trusty released. Few hundred machines successfully upgraded. Yay debathena, boo trusty, yay progress. Thanks to those that helped. 

glasgall: related news: barnowl locker is updated for trusty

jdreed: Athena dialup update to trusty on Thursday

achernya: Last week, Ceres and I flipped out and packaged Athena for redhat in style of Debathena. We now wish to finish debathena clients. This should happen after F20 release. Should be a strict improvement over current state of Athena.

glasgall: SIPB's kaduk has deployed the first publicly available AFS software

achernya: A user walked into the office yesterday with a weird CSV file encoded UTF-16. Who does that? 

glasgall: Windows. 

jdreed: If anyone is interested in writing knowledge-based articles on topics to get people to learn about Athena computers, come talk to me.

dlaw: Class of 2018 moves in as early as tomorrow.

dzaefn: I am currently working on the Zephyr Genealogy tree. It is a tree with links of who introduced people to the Zephyr community. If you're interested, please e-mail me information.
