Minutes of the SIPB Meeting of 2014-11-24


The meeting was called to order by vasilvv at 19:30.

Administrivia
=============

vasilvv: Special announcement: meeting with John Charles next week.  In the spring, we previously met with him in a small group with maintainers etc. I will get clarification on the agenda and then send out an email.  

Project Updates
===============

jlrubin: I'm working on doing a public LDAP type thing w/ custom defined fields, like an MIT data directory, and I'm just getting started on it, so if people are interested in working on it more - it was focused on Bitcoin originally, but we're considering doing it more general-purpose.  

vaslivv: email sipb-office?

jlrubin: will do.  

vasilvv: anything else?

tthoma24: we cleaned the tables, let's try to keep things neat going forward.  We're doing a cleanup day soon, more announcements coming soon, join sipb-decrappify if you’re interested. we're not trying to upset people by getting rid of things, but some documents on that thing [gestures to back of room] only exist on paper, and should likely be backed up digitally.  stay tuned.  

sparrow_: There will be no cluedump this week due to Thanksgiving.

bennoui: hi I'm Amber, I was at last week's meeting.  I'm a new IS&T member and I've been involved in a few other student groups.  I'm currently doing the developer support website.  I was always too hosed to do SIPB in the past.  If you have projects that you need help with, let me know.

sparrow_: are you a prospective?  

bennoui: uh. sure, I guess you could say that. 

tthoma24: have you been prospectivized?

bennoui: No. 

sparrow_: talk to someone after the meeting and we can make that happen.

dzaefn: I helped Splash to happen.  I was there for nineteen hours.  

bennoui: I volunteered with Splash.  No one died and no one was born.  It was well-attended, I heard rumors that there were about 3,000 students.
