Minutes of the SIPB Meeting of 2019-02-18


The meeting was called to order at 19:30 by alvareza.

Administrivia:

        emmabat: welcome to the sipb meeting!
        
        cela: We have a new EC!!!
        
        emmabat: The Chair is Me, the Vice Chair is Catherine, who isn't here right now, the treasurer is cAPSLOCK, and the secretary is Angel, you can check last week's meeting minutes for the Members-A-Large.

        emmabat: We will need to work on the SIPB 50th aniversary, we should start by planning a committee, let me know if you are interested. I will make a mattermost instance.

Project Reports:

        cela: Work on hyades continues, we will be porting to bazel soon.

        tareq: we should start a project that checks the status of the dialups.

        ivanaf: The IAP class that I organized was, fine. 140 people signed up, 39 dropped, so it was 101. 

        emmabat: if you are interested in making cluedumps happen, you should talk to me.

        gshay: courseroad continues, it should be updated by march.

Other:

        alvareza: being secretary is harder than I thought.
        
        wqian: in my surplus computing class we talked about [something involving lambdas and google cloud slowing down by a factor of 4 because of spectre/meltdown?]

        wqian94: I would like to apologize to Angel for not showing up last week. We now have an additional national emergency on our plate, but it's not an emergency.
        
        emmabat: He only did that so he can choose how much he got.
