Minutes of the SIPB Meeting of 2020-02-24


The meeting was called to order at 19:30 by emmabat.

In attendance were

Administrivia:

        emmabat: Welcome to the SIPB meeting.

        alvareza: You should transfer power.
        
        emmabat: I was going to start that.

        gshay: Hi. I'm not the chair, but if you can suspend disbelief for 30 minutes I'm the chair. Anything for administrivia?

        alvareza: SIPB elections are sooner than you think.

        gshay: Anything else?
        
        emmabat: We need CPW events, probably the same things as last year. Any ideas?

Project Reports:

        cela: Hyades continues. So does Uplink.
        
        npfoss: Alice improved CourseRoad's URLs. Also, if you are course 6, you have a link to the audit. Also, we deployed the last two months of changes.
        
        emmabat: WISP continues. We are going to present at some point, but the time keeps changing. There will be another test tonight. Hopefully we will get clearance to put radio equipment on roofs. ALso, ubiquity has an app that lets you see how much of your network is up and if nothing is online it says your network is in danger.

Other:

        cela: Last week someone talked about a 400 dollar airdrop. I tried it and it didn't work.
        
        quentin: Did you have 15 followers?
        
        npfoss: Did you have 15 a year ago?
        
        cela: I'm not sure.
        
        npfoss: I had 14 followers.
        
        quentin: The instructions looked very complicated, so I haven't tried it.
        
        cela: I used an ssh key that I don't use for anything else.
        
        gshay: Anything else for Other?

Other Other:

        alvareza: This meeting is going faster than before.
        
        quentin: I support the new leadership.

	gshay: Do we really not have anything for Other Other?
        
        npfoss: Headline from Fox: CNN continues obsession about Trump's eating habits.
        
        emmabat: Primaries are sooner than you think! Also, dining is having a forum about next year's meal plan.
        
        emmabat: They are planning to move from 125 to 160 for optional dining dollars over the next 3 years.
        
        gshay: Cel, did you have something?
        
        cela: I decided it wasn't worth it.
        
        jkoppel: There will not be a cluedump this Thursday. Also, there has been another voting app problem that I am responsible for. The app, Votz, was secure because of blockchain. They generate 100 keys and take the 57th. It was easy to see who someone voted for. We released a paper about it. It's been very exciting.
        
        dzaefn: At least they have a bug bounty website.
        
        npfoss: Apparently the EU has adopted Signal as their official messaging app.
        
        cela: Katherine Johnson from NASA passed away today.
