Minutes of the SIPB Meeting of 2022-02-07 The meeting was called to order at 19:30 by kjchen. In attendance were         Student keyholders: bds, cela, huydai, kjchen, jmvidal, jnwagner, cjq         Associate keyholders: amigdal         Members: markchil, mitimmy, javsolis         Guests: '() Administrivia:         kjchen: We will have EC (Executive) elections next week. Basically we have an EC and will need an EC next year. If you are an active keyholder you should come to vote and if you are not you are welcome                 bds: HWOPS want to make an allocation for organizational items in the SMR. They are listed in a recent e-mail I sent out last Friday (8:44 PM on February 4th). Total list of items is shelf bin organizer, plastic parts cabinets, velcro self-grip straps, plastic pre-cut twist ties, and a pallet jack.                 bds: The pallet jack warrants a bit more explanation. When we purchased our UPS this year we had a bit of a debacle on how we were going to get those pallets up to the office. Luckily we had a SIPB member who was able to borrow one from their work and bring it to W20. However, this was a lot of work for the SIPB member and it is also not something we can readily depend on in the future. The total comes to $966 with additional shipping costs (estimated about $180). To be safe I would like to allocate $1,200 for the order.                 bds: Also as a fun aside the website has a list of free items that we can get when one orders over a specified amount. We're getting a ratcheting screwdriver.                 cela: I would like to second this.                 huydai: Where will we store the pallet jack? Is there space?                 cela: In the SIPB Machine Room. We anticipate disassembling this and finding a good place to store it. There is the question about how often this item will be used, but I would say in those very specific situations that when we need a pallet jack we really do *need* a pallet jack.                 kjchen: Let's proceed to a vote. I will open an anonymous poll on this Zoom.                 Results: 10 yes, 0 no, 1 abstain                 kjchen; This allocation passes. Project Reports:         cela: HWOPS continues. We are continuing our work to map out the current configuration of the Machine Room so that we can write up a specific plan for how we are change the layout. We've also put together a purchasing list of things that will help us organize it to be a more usable room, see earlier in this meeting.                 kjchen: love it when we put bits and pieces into boxes for bits and pieces instead of things that are not boxes Other:         kjchen: The SIPB EC election is sooner than you think. It is in one week. Other Other:         cela: Facebook is apparently not having a good week and I am pleased.                 cjq: It's not just Facebook. It's a bunch of other big tech.                 amigdal: What happened?                 cela: Apple deployed a change that turned off Facebook's ability to track you, and that change showed up in the traffic report last. This is a good thing, for the record. You want for Facebook to be able to track you less.                 huydai: I remember reading something about this, that FB was getting much lower traffic than usual. Was the Apple policy the main cause of that?                 markchil: I believe it was the dominant factor                 kjchen: Bye Mark Zuckerberg The meeting was adjourned at 19:44.         Minutes taken and submitted by huydai.
