Minutes of the SIPB Meeting of 2022-06-13 The meeting was called to order at 19:30 by jmvidal. A little more work on the script to send reminders so it doesn't send you a reminder every day but rather every n days. huydai has also been working on the code for emailing people                 ryang2: Last Thursday, we held our first Hyades meeting. Hyades is back on track now. We have a roadmap that we're going to try to stick through. For the next week or so we're going to try to get dependencies update and do more research in general                 huydai: Not really a project, but Billy added the RAM to the new computer we got in the office                 ashay: What computer is this?                 jmvidal: We had an excess budget one year and used it for computer parts. During CPW we built it with some of the pre-frosh, but at the time we were missing RAM and hard drive                 huydai: Yeah we'll figure out the hard drive later. In retrospect the computer building activity was very fun, though it was also super anxiety-inducing trying to do a PC build in 2 hours and trying to keep track of like 50 different screw types. What are you up to?                 jmvidal: I'm around, doing HWOPS stuff.                 kjchen: I'm sorta around campus, but not doing shit, which is great.                 ryang2: I heard they are going to renovate the Stud? Is that going to affect the SIPB office?                 ryang2: Not sure, they sent an email. Actually it was in the Tech *shares link* https://thetech.com/2022/05/26/stud-renovations-plan                 jmvidal: They said something about disruption                 jmvidal: We finally get Subway back?                 ashay: I haven't read the article yet, but trying to imagine what the most fancy version of the student lounge is like on campus. I'm imagining like Harvard's lounge with glass everywhere                 kjchen: I'd imagine if they got a big-name donor they'll want to turn it into MIT Nano with food. MIT is very into all metal and glass these days. Personally I don't think renovating will make it better.                 jmvidal: It's been running for 34 years since the last renovation wow.                 ashay: For other renovations MIT has done, I feel their renovations isn't motivating about fixing specific issues, but more like trying to measure up to other schools                 kjchen: lmao that's fair. If we want MIT to do something, we should just get Harvard to do it first         huydai: I also feel like for West campus students there isn't a lot of big study spaces for students                 kjchen: I feel like there's also the Main group, which is like Building 1-10. I don't think this is the DEN                 ashay: I clicked on the second article about lounges. "LOUNGES FOR MUCH MORE THAN LOUNGING. Yes, lounges are intended to encourage students to relax and recharge". Isn't all that just lounging.                 ashay: I'll take a picture tomorrow and send it to the chat.
