Minutes of the SIPB Meeting of 2022-08-01


The meeting was called to order at 19:30 by jmvidal.

        markchil: projectsdb locker exists, we're working on deploy and setting up prod.
        
        huydai: should we email project maintainers?
        
        jmvidal: probably email out globally first, and then email individually if someone doesn't reply.
        
        huydai: do we want to get this done before cpw?
        
        cjq: cpw? i think it'll definitely finish by cpw.
        
        jmvidal: maybe a week before?
        
        huydai: that makes sense.
        
        huydai: i was hoping billy would be here. he got the minecraft server running, and upgraded to 1.16. should be getting it to 18 or 19 in the future.
        
        jeffery: yeah i'll be working on upgrading the server version throughout this week.
        
        huydai: ec is trying to recreate their own dorm in minecraft. we're providing help for server hosting and stuff.
        
        huydai: hyades continues! setting up nixos images for k8s. doing research into storage solutions.

        markchil: today is the 55th anniversary of grace hopper being called to leave the navy to develop cobol.
        
        huydai: will i find a job on handshake if i learn cobol?
        
        markchil: banks have legacy code in cobol. idk if legacy code maintainer is a good career path.
        
        huydai: it would make for an interesting story.
        
        huydai: also monkeypox. it's been affecting disproportionately members of the lgbt community, but it's spreading pretty fast.
