Minutes of the SIPB Meeting of 2024-07-22 The meeting was called to order at 19:35 by rgabriel. In attendance were Student keyholders: rgabriel, psvenk, colclark Associate keyholders: almonds, asahteck Members: guoj1112 Guests: '() Administrivia: rgabriel: We need people for Midway. I realize that we might not have enough people to staff the Midway booth. (Midway is when you put all the prefrosh into a room and they learn about all the clubs.) almonds: When is Midway? rgabriel: I'm pretty sure it's the 30th. almonds: I'll land back in Boston on the 30th psvenk: I will unfortunately be in India on the 30th guoj1112: I'll be available; I'll always be in the area. rgabriel: There's a chance I will be here on the 30th, but I would have to pay to change my flight. rgabriel: I think colclark is going to be here? rgabriel [to colclark who just walked into the room, like a comedy TV show trope]: Are you going to be at Midway? colclark: I will be around but I can't staff the table as I will be in charge of Midway. rgabriel: So guoj1112 is the only person who can be at Midway? guoj1112: I wouldn't want to be the only person. But I'm not going to be working on the 30th of August, so I could be there. almonds: I'm looking at my schedule, and I would have to change two different things to be able to make it rgabriel: What time is Midway? colclark: It's from 2:30 to 4:30 on Aug 30. There is no penalty for not having any early returns to show up, so it makes sense to sign up. almonds: Then let's sign up, and we can @ people in Town Square, especially if not many people show up to next week's meeting. colclark: guoj1112, would it be sufficient if I came by every 15 minutes? guoj1112: I could accommodate that. It's not like Midway is something that requires my undivided attention. colclark: It goes for 2 hours. almonds: Should we discuss things to give away for Midway? rgabriel: We could talk more about merch. [discussion about merch] colclark: We could put my face on it, that's always an option. psvenk: That goes against my principles. rgabriel: We could do the things on the ceiling, or a fuzzball riding a 3-headed dog. almonds: We can also use both the front and back of the shirt. [further merch discussion] Project Reports: almonds: LLMs feels like it continues. almonds: rgabriel, got any projects? rgabriel: Nothing continues. almonds: That's a project? rgabriel: Yeah, it is an improved version of /dev/null. almonds: That makes me think of a USB key that you plug into your computer and it acts as a keyboard that holds down the Backspace button. We can give that out at Midway, right? [joking] rgabriel: We can give it out to unsuspecting prefrosh. Other: almonds: Certificates expire on July 30, so it's good practice to change your password if you haven't in a year (and get new certs). rgabriel: I've seen two places that haven't switched to Okta. One is Outlook/Exchange and the other is the Ethernet registration captive portal. almonds: I've noticed the Outlook one too, on Thunderbird. Other Other: rgabriel: We can't leave this Other Other without talking about Crowdstrike. colclark: Yes we can. rgabriel: I already mentioned it, so we already did. The meeting was adjourned at 20:06. Minutes taken by psvenk, almonds and rgabriel, and submitted by almonds.
