Minutes of the SIPB Meeting of 2025-06-16 The meeting was called to order at 19:35 by psvenk. In attendance were Student keyholders: dtemkin, psvenk, rgabriel, skylarh Associate keyholders: almonds Members: guoj1112 Guests: '() Administrivia: rgabriel: When do I become an associate keyholder? psvenk: The constitution says that you have to be an enrolled student, so whenever the MIT system thinks you are no longer an enrolled student. psvenk: We have a new constitution. It was just minor amendments to clarify pretty small points. I sent the amendments to sipb-office, and I will send the updated constitution again, and send it to SOLE later tonight. rgabriel: We should also change the part that says we need approval from the UA to make changes. psvenk: Yes, dtemkin also brought it up. I wanted to minimize the changes that are unrelated to SOLE's asks. So it's best that we send them this constitution and make whatever additional amendments later and update it. This could be as soon as the next EC meeting. guoj1112: What are the changes? psvenk: They are mainly just clarifications. Mainly, ASA and SOLE wanted us to clarify that the chair and treasurer needed to be distinct individuals. We do say the EC is a committee of 9 people, but we are clarifying that it means 9 distinct people. There is also a grandfathering clause making keyholders all members prior a certain date. We also changed another place that still said "member". rgabriel: So it wasn't just the "distinct" part? psvenk: Replacing old use of "member" with "keyholder". Also what would happen in the event of vacancies in the EC, like the votes would be out of 8 rather than 9 people, things like that. There is no de facto change in the meaning of the constitution; every change that was made is just to clarify something that was already implicit in how the constitution had been interpreted. psvenk: Did anyone pick up the package from SOLE? I'll take that as a "no". Project Reports: almonds: DormSoup is running on SIPB LLMs now, no ChatGPT! Thanks to aabreu. rgabriel, psvenk: Yay! psvenk: Has it been migrated in production? I guess not since it was just now. almonds: I'm not actually sure. psvenk: Some recent emails still say scraped by GPT, but that's because dormspam is slow and they are older emails. guoj1112: ARK continues. I am connecting the backend and the frontend. [details]. I hope to have a fully interactive UI in the next few weeks. psvenk: Does Hydrant continue? dtemkin: Hydrant does continue!! OMG have you seen my emails? psvenk: Which emails? dtemkin: So true. We now support classes from 6-10 am. rgabriel: There are classes at 6 am?? skylarh: That sounds awful. psvenk: And some of them are off campus! I guess it's the military discipline [for ROTC]. dtemkin: Hydrant stores time jankily. Every half-hour slot is numbered. This works fine, but it did break everyone's custom activities. But I'm going to ignore it because it's too late and it's the summer. guoj1112: It must have been so janky. dtemkin: Aggressively janky. psvenk: The status quo is janky. I don't think the jank factor of the code has changed significantly, and this is excusable. dtemkin: I think the code has generally gotten less jank. Still working on adding kerb logins though, mainly because I have been busy with work (tm). skylarh: dtemkin, you have changed the entire codebase and my UI update code was obsolesced. dtemkin: There's no rush since we have all summer. And I'm really sorry about that. skylarh: I can work on it when you don't plan to work on it. psvenk: I'm not sure if that set exists... dtemkin: For the large part it should be fine. I don't think there would be another large scale rewrite unless I'm really bored with finals in the fall, in which I would rewrite it all. Other: '() Other Other: guoj1112: There was a high school graduation in the Kresge auditorium recently. psvenk: A high school graduation?? What school could that be? guoj1112: I thought there was such a thing, ok nevermind maybe I am... psvenk: If the school is in Cambridge, there is only one traditional public school, which is CRLS. Their graduation was at Russell Field. I know there is a charter school in East Cambridge, as well as a private school in West Cambridge, but I don't see why the latter wouldn't have it on their own campus. guoj1112: I am pretty sure there was something of the sort happening in Kresge recently. Has anything similar happened? psvenk: There was the Cambridge symphony orchestra played Saturday night. Was that what you might be thinking of? almonds: The No Kings rallies broke some record on the number of protests happening in the US at the same time, and the estimated turnout is also a large range: between 5 million and 13 million people. skylarh: Check out this equation. psvenk: What is it? skylarh: [explains equation]. It's terrifying! almonds: Can you share a picture? rgabriel: This is the first meeting in a while where "Other" is completely blank. psvenk: Apparently CRLS graduation was at CRLS and not Russell Field. rgabriel: What is Russell Field? psvenk: It is a football field at Alewife. The meeting was adjourned at 19:53. Minutes taken and submitted by rgabriel.
