               Minutes of the SIPB Meeting of August 3, 1981

	The meeting was called to order at 19:30 by David C. Plummer.
		
		In attendance were DCP, WOS, CAH, Alan, Jay, RK, ACW,
		c|, RLL, GMP, JCG, RDM, and Naha.
			
		Late were: KYM, JPT, and JSL.

		The minutes of the meeting of July 27 were read and
		accepted as corrected.

	Treasurer's Report: All the bills are in, except the 370
		bills.  Total Multics spending for July is $3762.95,
		$1700.00 was spent on the SIPB and SIPBADMIN
		projects. We spent $6500.00 last July. $435.20
		spending so far this month on Multics.

		Jay also spoke to Chuck Libby, and the MIT
		Comptroller about Coop spending.  We are not going to
		accept requisitions on the Coop project, except for
		the Tech and MTG.

	Chairman's Report:  The chairman is plumbing and the Plummer
		is chairmaning.

	Office Report:  KTOC.  Naha has obtained a remnant of building
		E21 and it is labeled as a paperweight.

		JIR has not been subscribed to yet.  The Discover
		subscription has not been renewed.

	Computer Services:  The weekly self-destructed, due to the
		io-queue message segments being broken.  The bug is
		known by the Multics maintainers.

		Nothing about selling NBDD.

	Telecommunications Report:  Phones have been ordered for the
		Midway.  RLL and Eric have not talked to the libraries
		yet.

	Publications Report:  There is a new terminals guide published
		by the IPC.  c| is working on the office manual.

		What about Lisp Notes for MIT Courses?  DCP will look
		into it.

	Annual Report Report:  Bill is working on the report.
		KYM came in at this point.

	IAP Report:  Next House will have at least two floors ready by
		R/O Week.  For the Computer Tour, several sites have
		been talked to and we are considering having the tour
		the Tuesday between Labor Day and Registration Day.
		We need to defintely decide on a date for the tour.

	Other:  Ambassadors now come with software for Meta key mode
		and N-key rollover.

	Applications:
		Robert Dourandish, to meeting, $20 on the Coop
		project.  He is a BU student, that is why it is to
		meeting.  Rejected due to his not being a member of
		the MIT Community.

		John C. Gonzales wants $50 to edit some stories and
		convert a phone program from Lisp to PL1.  Motion to
		give.  Given.

		Total appropriations: $495 without Coop
		  Autoed: 
		    Student: $445
		  To Meeting: $50, all Student.

		Coop: $20 rejected.

	Other Other:  ECS was discussed.  Should we put people on the
		ECS project any more?  More discussion next week.

		JPT came in at this point.

		Naha says that the new HST building is neat, after having
		walked through.

		J9 went rafting in Texas and had an interesting time
		under the falls.

		J9 has a new antique spinning wheel.

		JPT and CWH are looking are now looking for an
		apartment, since CWH's building is going condo now.

		RK sold his old car.

		HIC is in this week's Electronics.  It was commented
		that HIC is beginning to look like Tom Knight.

		DCP is looking for a bicycle.  He also sold his watch
		to Barmar.

		There is a trip to Montreal this weekend.

		RLL went to Vermont and saw lots of stars, meteors,
		and satelites, as well as an auroral display.

		JSL entered at this time.

	        JSL had his motorcycle stolen from underneath Building
		39.

		The meeting was adjourned at 20:45.
