Don't want to flood campus w/computers. knew about cmu 2 yrs. ago. wants to spend the $ for ind study for writing software for use in classes. talking w/ dec, ibm. cbf: when wer: he hopes soon. happy to get stud input. everyone should write. send proposals to him. cbf: where do we sit. wer: unhappy we are limited (space, terminals) easier to find hardware $ for terms. COMPUTER SERVICES steve: areo astro small amt poster TELECOMMUNICATIONS REPORT steve: we are getting $ for renovation maybe. rough guess not in the minutes. we have to patch the old room but that is cheap. one option: not real feasible to have 2 separate rooms because they are narrower. we should rip out a wall and make a big room. that means only 12 terms will fit (with a decwriter). want a comfortable room with many terms. better: take one room, make term room w/8 terms on concentrator. Keep old room & remodel wer: doesn't she want the room steve: no. we should have 14-16 terms, the space would be more comfortable. wer: we don't have to move lines steve: when multics moves the lines are no good anymore cbf: want all terms on concentrator. nicer if one large room. steve: crowded (single room) but still comfortable. naha: second cbf. find out what it costs to rip walls steve: $1k. naha: annex hall rdz is confused steve: has blueprint. go see rooms. <> steve: want shelves instead of tables, etc. fire code problems. tried calling the safety office. will talk to them.
