Minutes of the SIPB Meeting of 30 May 1983 The meeting was called to order at 19:35 by Jon Rochlis. In attendance were Voting members: Barmar, jr, clm, cbf, cah, tzs. Non-voting members: rk Prospectives: none Guests: none ->MTG APPLICATIONS (and EC) Group Velocity - For writing programs for simulations and for text editing letters. He said he would be here, but he isn't. We will wait for him. Sienko, Tanya - $50 - for writing stories. Has not had any money this year. Given. Ha, Chi - $70 - to do resume and employment letter during the summer. He has previously had $200. Push to discussion of giving accounts for over the summer. Discussion of summer accounts: If people want accounts that should continue in July, cbf suggests that you take a purple application for June and an orange application for July/August. On July 1 we will process all the orange applications. CAH came in during this. Pop: Chi Ha given $50 for June. Chan, Daniel - $150 - text editing - submitting a paper to be published for review. Has had $190 so far ($90 on CMS and $100 on Multics). Given. TZS came in during this. Back to Group Velocity: Given $100 to start off with. Johnson, Kevin - $30 by EC, total of $230 - finish a report. TREASURER'S REPORT Our spending: month-to-date: $338.21 year-to-date: $126,960.58 on Multics last week: spba/spb: $26.16 MTD (this is 7.7%) Phone bills coming soon. CHAIRMAN'S REPORT There is a nasty rumor that the chairman is still alive in Berkeley. Ex-chairman cbf went to a CCE meeting. Project Athena, the deal with IBM and DEC, was announced. cbf suggested that an undergraduate should be allowed to sit on the committee that will be overseeing the project. Wes Burner expressed concern to cbf about the cleanliness of our office, due to P-Plant complaints about 39-200. cbf told him to take it up with rdz. OFFICE REPORT The office is still in 11-205, and the windows sometimes open. cbf suggests that we should get screens for the windows. COMPUTER SERVICES We should put the envelope with applications on the door again. A new version of add_student was installed. What should we do with the 11/44 when it arrives? RK suggests that we put it in CCC's machine room. We currently do not have a JCF budget or an operating budget for the 11/44. TELECOMMUNICATIONS REPORT We have two working phone lines in the office. Brian Herr has been promising us that x7760 would be working, and he says that the dataset will be installed on Thursday. TERMINAL REPORT PUBLICATIONS REPORT New policy statements were made to change all the room numbers. Someone should fix the NUMS and NETS. Orange applications will be ready on Friday. We should be getting letterhead proofs in the mail sometime. Someone should order a new rubber stamp. ANNUAL-REPORT REPORT The acting chairman will consider working on the annual report. R/O REPORT Carlamy expressed interest in working on the freshman packet.
