		of 1/9/84

	The meeting was called to order at 7:35 by rk.

	The minutes of the meeting of 1.1.84 were read
	and accepted as corrected.

		To Meeting Applications

Hess, Rodney: Wants ?? for writing a novel - rejected for two reasons:
 1. we can't afford $1000
 2. we can't give money for something that may bring him a profit. 

Karpman, Maurice: had $200 for writing for esg. Wants $50. Given.

Feehman: Had $250 for writing papers. Wants $75 for independent research.
 Given.

Sweetsen, Douglas: Had $300. Wants $50 to write to companies. Given.

McAllen, Robert: Given $20 in retro ec by jr. O.K.'d.
Weiner, Robert (known luser): 21.777 40 pages, macsyma, etc. Wants $120,
 had $50 Given.
Wood, Tamara: Had $50 for independent study project. Wants about $800,
 basically for entering data into the computer. After much discussion, we
 determine that she may need 50 hours to enter the data. Looks more like 
 $400-$500. No, maybe not. How many surveys can she type in an hour? 5?
 50? 10? Gave %50 more for $100 with a guarantee that
 we will provide up to $500.

	Treasurer's Report: 

Spent $95,248 of which $14485 was SIPB admin, about $80,850 was on users,
which is about 2/3 of what we can spend on users this year.


	Chairman's Report:

	
No chairman. The chairman is enjoying sunny california.
We need a terminal inventory and rough forecast of this year's budget before
the chairman gets back, so presumably this will be done by wcs and dfm.

	Office Report:

We got pink pads and form b's.

	Computer Services:

none.

	Telecommunications Report:

We picked up the la36 from pks, but did not get the modem from them at the
time, although it appears thay have it now. Julius left a note which has a
breakdown of who's collected what. We've collected $625 so far.
The la36 is broken and has been called in to dec.

	Publications Report:

We got lisp notes and form b's today. Lisp notes are $4 each. 
(Form b's are free). 

	Athena Report

	IAP

The first lisp course was today. There were about 300 people. We sold 125 sets
of lisp notes. We got permission from rk scott to use the terminal room for
the text processing course. 

	Other:

There was no meeting on the 26th (apparently). Maybe there was a meeting but
nobody showed up. A tradition broken?
There are two prospectives here tonight. One freshman, one sophomore.

We're going skiing on sunday. People interested should send rk mail or leave
him a note.

The 49'ers were beaten sunday after an incredible comeback in the last quarter
died (21 points, coming back from a 21-0 deficit).  It was very sad.  The west
coast will be represented, however, by the L.A.  Raiders, who will crush the
redskins.

	The meeting was adjourned at 8:15 by rk.

christmas morning.)
