Minutes of the SIPB Meeting of 05/05/86


	The meeting was called to order at 1932.0 by spook.

	Treasurer's Report:

      Treasurer is playing volleyball.

	Chairman's Report:

Talk about plans for next year.  Reviewing what we did this year:
Hack tournament, X9700 & Laserwriter service, IAP Unix Internals course,
SIPB tour, opening up Multics tournaments.  Assorted Athena helpage.

Some of these will continue.  But what else?  Ken brings up SIPB doing
something with Athena volunteer consulting, specifically about the OLC program
and olc.  (btw, the OLC daemon just went down).  A lot of flaming and
discussion.  Final discussion (for those who remained) led to having the
Chair talk to Beth, and give her the options discussed.  These include
managing outside people as volunteer consultants, or have SIPB membership
(or prospectiveness) as a prerequisite for SIPB certification of
consultants.

	Office Report:

What happened to the office manual?  We need new chairs.

Terminals:  DEC people have been here, W20 is on its way.  Some discussion
about getting rid of LA36's.

Dialups:
Some talk about 258-SIPB.  Maybe we can get the number forwarded.
Three dialup lines don't work.  Eva seems to be procrastinating.

	Publications Report:

Default.

	R/O Report:

Stan's thinking about the letter to be sent out in the Freshman packet.

	IAP Report:

Cliff will be gone next year;  anybody feel like teaching an advanced
UNIX course.  Some rumblings about Bill Sommerfeld.

	Other:

Athena OLC is still crashing.  This terminal is lusing.
