Minutes of the SIPB Meeting of 8609.08


	The meeting was called to order at 19:30 by spook.

	Treasurer's Report:

The SIPBADMIN project is down below $ 450, this will be fixed.

	Chairman's Report:

Welcome back carla and freshmen.  Sigh.  He has finished working on the Athena
olc stuff.  He also brought back the Inessential Guide.

	Office Report:

We have an office manager.  Carla's natural good will prompted her to
volunteer.  She tried to get new chairs but was temporarily foiled.  We need
to see if we have enough power and air conditioning for the workstations.

Don't leave empty soda cans around to office, they go in the box behind the
fridge!!

What do people think about putting the PDP dowstairs for dialups?  Ken must
talk to caf about doing it.

	Athena Report:

We should think about getting RVD's (uus) for charon for the workstations.
Or we may want all of /usr/unsupported.  No one wants to be the one to do it.
jtkohl will write a proposal for putting tcsh in /bin.

	Computer Services:

There are 11/13 working workstations downstairs.  We don't know the common
combination but the master still works.

Backups of VM accounts will be taken care of by Henry M.

Should we give charon accounts to use TeX?  No, but maybe it could be put on
the /usr/unsupported RVD.

	Telecommunications Report:

pww and the vt100 are sick.  Chun is still waiting for the proper signature so
that 258-SIPB will be forwarded to w20.

Someone wants to buy a modem.  We don't have any extra anymore.

	Publications Report:

Read the Inessential Guide. It's got a nice cross-eyed owl wearing a multics
t-shirt and stands next to a Sigma Pi Beta.

	R/O Report:

It came and went.  There was a paper tape punch at the Midway but it was
received unenthusiatically.  Simson is sorry he missed it but he was not
around.  The tour was piddling.  Circa 60 people attended.  CCC was upset
about not being on the tour.

	IAP Report:

wesommer will be doing UNIX internals.  srz will do Multics internals.  simson
may do connection machine internals.

	Other:

Simson still has not gotten a haircut.

	Other Other:

If anyone has seen a music cassette laying around the office by Love and
Rockets, please tell mer.
