Minutes of the SIPB Meeting of 25 Jul 1988 The meeting was called to order at seven-thirty by Stan Zanarotti. In attendance were Voting members: Stan Zanarotti, Mary Vogt, Carol Smith, John Kohl, Ken Raeburn, Ted Ts'o, Richard Basch, Harold Ancell Associate members: Carolyn Smith, Jon Rochlis, Jeff Schiller, Robert Krawitz Non-voting members: Prospectives: Jay Berkenbilt Guests: Treasurer's Report: Welcome back, treasurer. She was slogging through the heat & dust, not the mud, after all. SIPB's pretty rich. As far as she's concerned, not much has happened for the last 6 weeks. CokeComm Report: Product arrived last Wednesday. Enjoy. No bets on how long it will last. Chairman's Report: Well, he's back. Next month he will try to organize the writing of an Annual Report. (much snickering) Beware - he's likely to try to con people into writing parts of it. Office Report: We have a/c, and the floor seems to have been wax recently. Athena Report: New version of NFS which is almost compiled; supposedly fixes the bug of files being zeroed. Currently de-installing Vice from the SIPB machines, because it's not maintained. Computer Services: Dialup situation - Mark Lillibridge is dealing. Macintosh & AU/X - We have an offer from Dan Geer to give us A/UX in return for some random work (getting discuss, DES, Kerberos, etc. working on the Mac). We also have an offer from the MicroCenter to give us A/UX as soon as they get it in exchange for answering unix questions for them (which we would wind up doing anyway). Progress being made on TeX for Mac. Telecommunications Report: New telephones before, um, October 10. Field service contract renewed for our terminals. Modem given to us by Coplex seems to be working all right on Bloom-Beacon. We don't have a console line in 11-205 anymore. Publications Report: Need more copies of Inessential Guide. Ought to be looked over/ revised. Ted will do the looking-over, then will draft people. R/O Report: R/O Chairman absent, so no detailed report... Volunteers needed for R/O Tour. Freshman letter went out. IAP Report: Getting father. Maybe getting closer, but who cares. Other: '() Other Other: Mary's is going to be closed for a week. Snif. Treasurer has lots of horror stories. JTk's cousin from LA says that "All men are pond scum." The meeting was adjourned at seven-fifty-two. Minutes taken and submitted by Mary Vogt.
