Gone for the summer, but he's irreplacable. :-) Chairman's Report: She says she's not here. New prospectives Brian Kelly (padrelou) and Floyd Lozano (fplozano) introduced themselves. fplozano said he heard about SIPB from ad in GQ. We had intouductions all around. Office Report: less pitly than usual. What to do about getting recycled paper picked up? Ask janitor when he's here or ask Phys Plant. DKK's Next is in the SIPB office. Feel free to play with it until he takes it home. MIT Computing Report: Themis /u1 & /u2 are down. 600-1000 users are affected. Computer Services: mcmullan says the irc server is running on charon (nothing points to it yet but garfield connects). Mail will be sent announcing the necessary changes to config files between now and when garfield goes away. alumni machine: what about site licenses? should alumni be allowed to use this software? Probably should be minimal accounts to prevent this problem. Alumni office thinks alumni access to internet would help keep contact with alumni, but they're not interested in footing the bill for the machine. dkk volunteered himself, mhpower and amgreene to discuss this in more detail. subjects and verbs in sentences? not in these minutes. marc implemented a method of further controlling access to SIPB machines for the non-prospectives who use the machines a lot. It has options for a more direct/virulent message and to block out a user. This is also useful for remote access to portnoy, hodge and podge. In these cases, the person at the machine has ultimate control over remote use. The problem may decrease now that the term is over. Intel is lending us a computer with 16 Meg RAM and 760 Meg disk space. It's in the mail. It should be here Tuesday or Wednesday. We'll have use of the loaner to start hacking on while the proposal is being considered. After the proposal goes through (assuming it does), they might give us ownership of it, send a replacement, or whatever. web wrote xthesaurus. It's installed. It currently has about 5000 words. Ronald-Ann Backup Report: Down to the last three volumes. Will be done by end of meeting. Publications Report: Low on Inessential AFS. dkk volunteers to make copies. R/O Report: Still need tour volunteers. Still need letter for mailing. Deadline hasn't been finalized for letter, but it should be dealt with in the next few weeks. IAP Retort: May is IAP planning planning planning planning planning planning month. CokeComm Report: We have coke. Empties should be redeemed (for a free soda/juice) again. Non-deposit cans & bottles should be gotten rid of. (Will someone please do this?) Other: ckclark came in at 11:00am Saturday. No one was here, but the office was open. (flame on) Whomever did this should be sacked. (flame off) Other Other: dcctdw has finally succumbed to the Forces of Perl.
