Minutes of the SIPB Meeting of 09/2/91 The meeting was called to order at 19:30:00 by jcbourne. In attendance were Voting members: mhpower bjaspan len18 mjbauer jik jcbourne | jtidwell warlord marc dkk Associate members: ambar rls amgreene | rlcarr srz Non-voting members: Prospectives: ckclark pan proven rei geoff Guests: Treasurer's Report: He's here! Trip to Barbados was fun. Nothing more to say. Chairman's Report: She's here, too. Yeah, right. Failed Coup Leaders' Report: Oprah, Phil, and Geraldo are fighting for rights, film at 11. Office Report: The office is put back together. The AC is mostly here but isn't finished; Marc should talk to phys. plant tomorrow. MIT Computing Report: 7.3 is out, run for the hills. Can you say "set skip_dash"? I knew you could. Computer Services: Our staff-test workstations get RVD from b11, this is silly. probe suggests pub-test-sys AFS cluster. There are no staff-test RVDs in w20. Perhaps we should use AFS packs on everything except the vs2s, which should stay on RVD. Decision: One RT and one DECstation are staff test via AFS, the rest get rvds from the standard place. Some machines in the office are still running 7.2 because our xlogin hasn't been updated. Decision: Update the machines now, update xlogin whenever someone gets around to it (probably kkkken). Remember to deal with machine customizations. (Look in /afs/sipb/project/office-machines.) Do we still want our DECstations to still be access on, given that there are public DECstations now? Probably not. How about putting sipb in the passwd file and using noremote? Yes. We aren't quite sure why we don't have an RS/6000 yet; probe is still looking into it. The Intel box needs another caretaker. No one is really excited, bjaspan volunteers (surprise). Ronald-Ann Backup Report: warlord will do it remotely from clh if someone loads tapes Publications Report: eichin isn't here. We'd like copies of everything for the Midway (tomorrow). dkk has time tomorrow and will be useful. Getting Started on Athena is out-of-date, wait until we get knew ones to give it out. Apparently, an up-to-date version is available via online help. R/O Report: It's here. Midway is tomorrow night 7-10. Be there, be useful. Consensus is to bring the NeXT. Bring stuff there by 6:30. Volunteers to be there: jcbourne, ckclark, dkk maybe, rls, ??? Jenifer still needs tour sheperds for Thursday, 7pm in lobby 7. All you have to know is where E40, the Media Lab, Tech Sq., and 6-120 are. (There is no W91 tour this year.) Send her email to volunteer. IAP Report: October is IAP planning month. :-) CokeComm Report: '() Other: '() Other Other: AAAUUUGGGHHH! Rush sucks. The meeting was adjourned at 20:06. Minutes taken and submitted by bjaspan.
