[Why?] cfox: He's written some documentation (especially iDocFormats), has installed a lot of software, some of which I wouldn't touch, and has spent lots of time in office; he's good at helping users, especially CPs. I've had to kick him out too often. proven: That's basically what I would have said. [Passes 8-0-0; election next week] Office Report: tb: It's here. Office Cleaning Report: gisele: Some cleaning happened this afternoon. gif: People should pay attention to all the recyclables in the back of the office. fyfer: The bulletin boards look cluttered. The cruft is charming, but some of it probably ought to go. MIT Computing Report: zacheiss: 8.3.20 goes out to the dev cell tonight. ocschwar: exmh presorting used to be really kludgy, but it's much better now. I have documentation on how to write a .maildelivery file, which configures it. zacheiss: The AFS-Moira PRDB resync happens tonight. People with deactivated accounts will now show up as numbers in AFS ACLs; these numbers will go away when the janitor runs. The only other user-visible effect will be slowness while the resync happens. Computer Services: zacheiss: The sipb cell was upgraded to AFS 3.5 this week. SIPB Backup Report: zacheiss: I did them. Publications Report: aatharuv: We have everything. gif: I updated the office manual with new info about running publications off. Orientation Report: '() IAP Report: '() CokeComm Report: jweiss: People should read iFridgeRestocking. Other: '() Other Other: ocschwar: A good prospective project would be a one sheet on "So you think your account has been compromised." A user said she thought hers had been, but everything showed me looked innocuous. cfox: This sort of problem really needs individual attention. kcr: A one-sheet of places to go, common warning signs, etc. would be useful. cfox: Perhaps we should recommend what to do after the fact in iSecurity? tb: This all belongs in Other. tibbetts: I dealt with two users with this issue in the last week. cfox: I dealt with one. jweiss: Did the users send their passwords in the clear, or forget to lock their screens? tibbetts: One did each. cfox: I dealt with a case of an unlocked screen. zacheiss: Woods Hole is very scenic. cfox: People should keep their greasy fingers off the monitors. kcr: I move to allocate $10 to purchase more screen-cleaner stuff. [Seconded; white ballot.] mycroft: Something should be done about the Nantucket Nectars stain in front of the fridge. gif: golem should figure out how to deal. The meeting was adjourned at 19:41.
