Minutes of the SIPB Meeting of 8.4.2003


The meeting was called to order at 7:31 by golem.

Chairman's Report:

Office Report:
	merolish: Something was broken.  Somebody was here today fixing
		it.
	hartmans: Future recommendation: when people are fixing
		something and leave, ask them if it was fixed.
	jhawk: The thing in question was the condensate trap in the air
		handler behind the couch.

Office Cleaning Report:
	ike: I'm going to spend some time tidying up after the meeting,
		because I haven't done it in a while.

MIT Computing Report:
	golem: New patch release.
	hartmans: New win.mit.edu software coming out.

Publications Report:

Orientation Report:
	hartmans: We have this ad thing (in HTGAMIT).
	jenselby: The text was updated last night.
	golem: I told him (zoz) to send mail about it.  The ensuing
		flamage was entertaining.

IAP Report:
	hartmans: It's IAP Planning Month for procrastinators.

CokeComm Report:
	jenselby: I've been a little bit lame these past two weeks, but
		I got some more soda.  I'll be running dots tonight.
	lnemzer: Apparently we traded Jen's brain for a 24-pack of Diet
		Vanilla Coke.

Other:
	ike: The chair is sporting facial hair.
	golem: This should go in Other Other.
	jhawk: Other is for SIPB.
	golem: I decided, I'm fleeing the country for a month, so no one
		will see me.

Other Other:
	merolish: Math is hard.
	golem: I am in fact not going to be at a SIPB meeting for five
		weeks.  I'll be back September 11 or 12 or thereabouts.
		Probably rax will be running the meetings, when he gets
		back from Minnesota.  It'll be a free-for-all until
		then.  I'll be in China.
	hartmans: Will you be taking your phone?
	golem: No.  Email will be my only mode of contact.  The first
		week I will spend in DC, which is not China.
