Minutes of the SIPB Meeting of 2014-06-09


The meeting was called to order at <start-time> by dove.

In attendance were

Administrivia:
        dove: Today is the official beginning of the summer term.

        dove: We got two e-mails about hackathon-y sort of events; one of them
		is LibreOffice who wanted venue space; I sent a response. If people
		think this is cool, I'd support that, but generally I'd expect there are
		less people interested given that it's summer. Similarly, Inkscape wants
		a hackathon sometime in April 2015; that's during the school year and
		more likely to be successful. woursler seemed interested.

        achernya: Scripts is happy to announce our new team leader, cereslee.
        [Applause.]

        tboning: dvorak42 asked me to allocate about $441 for SMR equipment;
		it's for 3 adapters and 3 extensions cords for the rewiring project.
        glasgall: This sounds expensive, but if you want to carry high amounts
		of amps and not catch fire...
        achernya: We have about $600 left.
        [Seconded, white ballot.]

        tboning: If you want things bought for the office like hole punches like
		hole punches or new cutters, talk to me.

        glasgall: XVM is very, very pleased to announce that all the data has
		been moved off the old crashy RAID. A very small number of user machines
		were affected in a mildly negative way; if yours was, you got mail. We
		would like to thank everybody for their patience and forbearance. VM
		creation is now enabled.
        iannucci: With high probability, if your VM's disk was highly fragmented
		before, it's no longer the case.
        glasgall: We're working on implemented paravirt GRUB; if you've ever had
		the 'bootloader could not find kernel to boot' message, hopefully
		that'll go away.
