In attendance were Richard Soley, BSG, archy, BARMAR, CAH, NAHA, CWH, DCP, Jay Patton, DPC, HGA, WER, CRD, JSL, c|, Charity, Shawn, KHS, GMP, ALAN, Gonzo, and ZRM. GHuber and RDM came in at this point. ***User Interrupt*** Webber, Neil, $100, has been autoed/rejected, for writing a paper for the National Bureau of Standards (for which he has already been paid.) Motion to give: passes. ACW and J9 came in at this point. Moseley, Jeanine (J9), known loser, no amount, for text editing a paper based on (but not) her thesis. Given $-. (She can use her existing account.) Treasurer's Report: Telephone bills are on the board. We have spent $4195 so far this month. Student was about 75% of this. Chairman's Report: The chairman had a meeting with Chris Wheeler (of the SCC) today; unfortunately Chris didn't show up. The chairman spoke to him briefly, however; no consequences yet. RLL, EAK, and CBF came in at this point. Office Report: An unidentified CBF has appeared in the office. There was a motion to banish him to California, affective tomorrow. Passes. The manual racks were fixed up by CAH and ALAN. A new office manual is on the board - comment on it. ZRM completed a new Multics Rates Chart - it is a win. ALAN and archy got new carpet for the loft; it was paid for (and is a gift from) ALAN. Computer Services: We have a delivery date for Multics hardware: May 9, (1980). For details on the hardware, see GMP. We still haven't gotten a 128 record dir for Student; Student hit 64 records this week. There are 5 or 6 slots left on the project. Soley and Gonzo might teach some informal classes in CMS and VS1 for those who want to be able to help lusers with simple questions. Our nbdd is again almost full; we need to pare it down. Telecommunications Report: There was a terminal meeting. The conclusion was that we should buy the HP2648A. There was a long discussion about the various terminals we have seen. We will be voting on which terminal to buy two weeks from tonight, at the meeting, 31 March 1980. The Random House terminal area has been cleaned up (according to the Random House desk); NAHA & RLL are following up (calling it in). CWH spoke to JLK about the keyboard problem; JLK says he will give us a new model keyboard for free. Some groups with terminals not covered by our contract are having problems. Publications Report: The NUMS are ready at C.W.Beane's. They need to be picked up. FinBoard might pay for our publications some time soon. Publicity Report: We spent $20 for a slide this weekend; it seemed to be a win. We have "Don't Type Anything Twice Twice" posters; the Institute needs to be postered! The FINAL writeup for Hotogamit is on the board; this is your last chance to comment. c| has been speaking to the TCA about our listing. Other: Multics network mail will be flakey for a while. One of the phones in the office doesn't like to hold on 7789; it needs to be fixed. The office phones should stop being hacked so that we CAN call NET for repairs. On the floating agenda: ALAN brought up that we should try to have better relations with 6-030. More people should add themselves to FRIENDS-OF-6-030 (ALAN will add most of SIPB to FRIENDS-OF-6-030). Consultant.SIPB will also be added. This is all happening because of an incredibly brain damaged problem set (#5) which was just assigned. There was some flamage about the fact that we no longer put up the Job Placements Office's monthly posters. The office opinion was that we didn't really need to put them up, since there are many around. We should call Job Placement and tell them that we don't put there posters up. Fred (the guy who we are taking on as a work-study student) sent in a pile of forms for us to complete: ACW took care of them. Applications: Campbell, Rod, $50, to continue working on microprocessor simulators he has written. (He spent most of the money he already had in reading in the tapes of the programs he already has).
