In attendance were RLL, Richard Soley, RK, ZRM, GMP, ALAN, NAHA, WER, Jay Patton, RDM, CAH, c|, Charity, and various users. Late were: RMP, DGH, KHS, archy, JSL, KHS, HGA, ACW, Gonzo, GHuber, DCP, JIS, and BSG. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and accepted as corrected. RMP, KHS, archy, JSL, and DGH came in at this point. ***User Interrupts*** Groth, Roy, (for ET fraternity), CMS, for fraternity records, room assignments, house bills, etc. Estimated $10 per month costs. For running & possibly converting to Multics. Motion to give $75 passes. HGA and KHS came in at this point. Warning form: CWang.Student, for using Student for 6-030 and 15-565 work. It was determined that he is not a loser; just didn't keep us informed. Motion to turn him back on passes. Treasurer's Report: RLL has fascist graphs! We are now getting "Spending Log Sheets" in the daily (and two in the weekly...). Put them in the correct blue folder. To date we have spent $3443.77 this month. (We spent $6979.12 during the month of March. An all-time low.) It looks like we are headed toward $80,000 for the year. There was a suggestion that we update all the manual racks we can find. Chairman's Report: The chairman found Prof. Dertouzos this week. We will be getting a seat on the Faculty Committee on Campus Computing. April 1 was last Tuesday. Archy's "moving party" announcement last Tuesday seems to have actually fooled some people! There was some talk about what we should do about the impending move of IPS out of Building 39. We will send a letter to Gray. Office Report: OCKT. The office will be waxed and waned at 0300 Thursday 10 April 1980. HGA has redone the book sign-out list. DCP and ACW came in at this point. We have a new refrigerator. We also have a HUGE pile of magazines with which to do something. People who are interested can re-arrange. Publications masters file was redone by c|. JIS came in at this point. If you eat in the office, remember to clean up afterwards! The old office refrigerator was sold in the middle of the meeting (NOW) to a random who came in for soda! The new continuation forms are here (Form B.1); use them. New member phone lists should be done. People should come for their office hours! BSG came in at this point. The daily needs to be gotten every day! Computer Services: Shift one was turned on for Student users. 128K dirs now work; the Student project is winning. The office now has a HLSUA frisbee (CAH is back from HLSUA). Telecommunications Report: The Random House terminal was called in today. We are going to have an ADM3A to try out starting on Wednesday for a couple days. Jean Bonney is interested in what we buy for a graphics terminal, as ARCS is looking for one also. The LA120 seems to be dead; the printer daemon for it is turned off until the hardware works. RLL will look at it tonight; DEC will be out here tomorrow. We seem to have run through an entire carbon ribbon today; we need to order more soon. RLL will do so. Publications Report: Stuff has to be picked up from Beane. The copy-place survey has been done (to a point) by c|. There were discussions about Beane's, Gnomon, Copy Cop, etc. Things always need to be picked up from Beane; do it! Publicity Report: We need to send out a freshman letter again folks. There is one in AI:ACW;FROSH LETTER. There is an MIT Open house coming up - we should decide what we want to do. It seems that we will have the traditional SIPB close house. The LSC slide was a win. Nothing has been done about the Tech add. Another postering needs to be done. Other: There was a discussion about turning SKnox.Student's account back on (see last week's minutes). RLL just now finished cleaning the new refrigerator; he is filling it up. GHuber came in at this point. Applications: MIT Equestrian Association (Hazelyn Patterson), $50, for text processing proposal for UA. Motion to approve passes. Wysocki, Fred, $100 Coop, for text processing his thesis. Hammond, Jerry, for 22.033 design project (text editing for report); estimated 100 pages output. (Five other people in the class will be working with him). Gonzo came in at this point. Motion to give $200 passes. $1585 Student, $0 ECS; $1585 total autoed. $100 Coop $0 by EC vote. $250 by meeting. $75 CMS. Total: $1910 (not including Coop). Other Other: CDT was seen eating dinner with Paul Green tonight? Anyone for rumors? There might be snow in NH; if you are interested in a trip, see RK. RLL is organizing a bicycle trip for next Sunday. NAHA is organizing a random walk through Boston. Clark Baker is still buying cubes. Additions to the SIPB and SIPBADMIN projects should be noted in the logbook. Everyone is invited to PRINT'80 to see Camex and their "sexy full-page software" (Seybold Report). You must provide your own transportation to Chicago. The office has a FREEZER! It works! The meeting was adjourned to a birthday party for everyone we missed in March (JMB, Gonzo, JSL, BARMAR, LSP, Radack, ED, and ACW) at 21:56. Minutes taken and submitted by Richard Mark Soley. (No longer acting Wechsler)
