Free tickets to BMOP Concert honoring John Harbison

Dear students,

The Boston Modern Orchestra Project (BMOP), one of the only orchestras in the world that performs all new music, is celebrating the music of MIT's own John Harbison next Sunday afternoon 4/7 3pm at Jordan Hall. The concert features MIT's Marcus Thompson as viola soloist as well as one of the most celebrated sopranos in the world, Dawn Upshaw.

MIT students can get free tickets to this concert and I highly encourage you to attend!

Reminder about melody composing

Dear students,

I've reviewed all your initial melody compositions. Nice work. One main thought reminder as you work on your two-part pieces:

Make sure you have the key firmly in your ear before you start. It helps to play and sing the scale a few times. Remember to start on Do, Mi, or So, and to end on Do. You can always make it weirder in the middle if you want but let's come back to home at the end!
