Remote Learning
- Lectures will happen live on zoom, and asynchronous recordings will be posted later in the day. We will get them up as soon as we can, but you should not expect them to appear exactly at 3:00pm every Monday and Wednesday.
- Recitations and tutorials will happen live on zoom, and we require synchronous attendance; we will not record these sections. You will be graded for participation in both recitations and tutorials (lots more on that here). We anticipate being able to offer a variety of timeslots for each of these sessions (including early morning and evening slots), to accommodate students in different timezones. If you are concerned about in-person attendance because of a difficult living situation, intermittent Internet access, etc., we will work with you to try to find a solution. If you have been assigned a section by the registrar, ignore it; we will assign you a permanent section.
- The midterm and final exams will be between two and three hours (exact time limit TBD), but you will be allowed to take them at any point in a larger time range (most likely 24 hours).
We will post zoom links for all sessions on Piazza, once we get closer to the start of the semester. Don't panic that you can't find the Piazza; it doesn't exist yet.
Course Calendar
6.033 covers four units of technical content: operating systems, networking, distributed systems, and security. Lectures deliver the fundamental technical concepts; recitations show you how those concepts are applied to real systems. In tutorial, you'll learn communication skills to help you reason about systems, and describe and defend your own.
The calendar below includes lecture and recitation topics, along with due dates for all assignments. We also note when we expect various assignments to become available, and when we expect to deliver feedback (grades or otherwise) for each of assignment. The release dates for assignments and feedback are subject to small changes throughout the semester.
We will release the Spring 2021 assignments as the semester progresses. The contents of this calendar for days more than two weeks in the future may be missing or inaccurate.
