This is version 2.7alpha of the OSU-CIS backup system. The main
changes since 2.6 include:

Added "scavange mode". You can now promise tapes for any backup
run ("*"), load a tape stacker with them, and run all-backups in
scavange mode from cron (-s option). In scavange mode all-backups
uses the first free or *-promised tape that it finds. This makes
it easy to use a stacker in an effective fashion (in sequential
mode) with backups run from crontab entries - clean the used tapes
out of the stacker and replace them with *-promised tapes and
    you're ready to roll.

I haven't been actively using the backup software personally for some
time now - I left my position at the CIS department 1.5 years ago, and
am now doing network security things at OSU. However, this version is
being used by two different groups within OSU in production.
