It seems that /mit/sipb/*bin/dvips works in translating j{,la}tex dvi
files into postscript.

To get this to work, you need to tell dvips where the jis (or dnp)
fonts reside, by adding the line:

P /mit/sipb/lib/tex/fonts:/mit/nihongo/lib/jtex/jfonts-pk

or the equivalent to your .dvipsrc file (see the man page for dvips in
the sipb locker).

dvips runs on both RT and VAX architectures.
