Pyrite -- Palm Computing(R) Platform Synchronization in Python Version 0.7.1 May 28, 1999 Author: Rob Tillotson Home Page: http://purl.oclc.org/net/n9mtb/cq/ Announcing Pyrite, a comprehensive package of tools allowing access to Palm Computing platform devices and their data from the Python programming language. Formerly known as PalmPython, Pyrite provides a high-level, object-oriented, extensible interface to data on and related to a Palm Computing platform handheld, both on the local disk and on the device. Pyrite is free software, available for use under the GNU Library General Public License, v2. Pyrite 0.7.1 adds several small enhancements to the basic database object and to the Doc plug-in, and fixes a minor installation bug. Pyrite 0.7.0 was a major new development release. In 0.7.x, Pyrite has undergone an extensive design overhaul and reorganization; many parts of the medium to high level programming interface are new or different than in previous versions. User-visible functionality should not be affected; however, if you have written your own plug-ins or other code which uses Pyrite, DO NOT install a 0.7.x version over the previous ones until you have read the documentation! The latest release of Pyrite can be downloaded from the URL shown above. Pyrite requires the Python language, version 1.5 or newer, and the pilot-link library. Python is available at , and pilot-link is at . Palm Computing is a registered trademark of Palm Computing Inc., 3com Corporation, or its subsidiaries.
