To: sipb-midway-2008 Subject: SIPB Computer Tours and Stories We've confirmed the SIPB Computer Tours schedule, so here are details and a reminder invitation to our upcoming events this Wednesday, September 3. These events come only once a year; you won't want to miss them. SIPB Computer Tours Leaving Lobby 7 at 6pm Come see the giant machine room in W91 and others that house MIT services campus-wide, led by the people who run them. Plus a bonus session of computing stories from Jeff Schiller, before we head over to hear him in 4-231. SIPB Computer Stories Room 4-231, 8pm Legendary storyteller Jeff Schiller has been running MIT's network and security since before you were born. After Computer Tours, we'll hear tales from his adventures here. In addition, we'd like to make you aware of a standing invitation for anyone interested in SIPB: any time you're free, just come by the SIPB office, room W20-557 in the student center, and meet us and hang out. Unlike groups that do their work at scheduled events, most SIPB work happens at random times of the week when members happen to be in the office, so just stopping by is a good way to meet us and get involved. The office is also an excellent place to spend time and to work, featuring lots of desk space and nice chairs for working, a soda fridge, and usually some knowledgeable and friendly upperclassmen to help with whatever you have questions about. During term, the office is open most hours of every day. You can call ahead at 253-7788 to make sure. We hope to see you around this coming week! - Greg Price SIPB Chair - Nelson Elhage SIPB Vice Chair [You're getting this message because you signed up at CPW or at the ASA Midway for our temporary fall mailing list. This list will receive a handful of messages over the next few weeks, then no more.]
