XFREE(1) UNIX Programmer's Manual XFREE(1) NAME xfree - clear a locked xscreensaver from a remote machine SYNOPSIS xfree [-p port] machinename DESCRIPTION _x_f_r_e_e is a user interface that unlocks an _x_s_c_r_e_e_n_s_a_v_e_r(_1) from a remote machine. When the screensaver is locked, it listens to a network port for a password, so that it can be unlocked in case the xscreensaver freezes. _x_f_r_e_e is an interface that allows a user to contact the xscreensaver without having the password appear on the screen. It prompts for a password, sends it over to the xscreensaver, and indicates whether or not the screen was unlocked suc- cessfully. The -p option allows you to specify a port other than the SIPB default port (port 32253). BUGS _X_f_r_e_e may sometimes fail even though the password is typed in correctly. The workaround is to try again. SEE ALSO xscreensaver(1) AUTHOR Derek Atkins, Student Information Processing Board (SIPB), warlord@athena.mit.edu Printed 4/26/90 26 April 1990 1
