MIT Student Information Processing Board


Who we are: SIPB (pronounced "Sip-bee'') is the Student Information Processing Board, the volunteer student group concerned with computing at MIT. We also act as an advocate for student computer users and student computer access on campus.
What we do:

Administer several machines, the sipb locker, and an AFS cell
Provide Usenet access to Athena
Provide telephone and in-person consulting
Write documentation of all sorts
Run a wide variety of servers, including a WWW server
Hack
Try to take over the world, er, generally have a good time

How to learn more about us:

Spend time in the SIPB office. Get (or give) a clue. Do a project. Get to know the officers and the members.

If you're interested in becoming a SIPB member, come in and read the SIPB Office Manual, located on the tall black bookshelf in the office. The Manual contains more information about us, including up-to-date info on how the membering process works and what it means to be a member. It even includes a brief history of the SIPB.
