Subject: Query on UROP possibility fo the upcomming year
In-Reply-To: Msg of 4 Aug 1987 01:53-EDT from <amdehon at CHARON-CHAOS.MIT.EDU>

Andre,

Unfortunately I think I'm already overcommitted just now with UROP students.
Get back to me in the Spring and we'll see if there are openings (I have
seven UROPs committed for the fall already and can't quite see that
I have enough projects for them all). Take 6.111 in the meantime.

In today's mail, I received an offer from the head 6.001 TA
for next term to work as a Lab TA. She mentioned that she contacted
me on your recommendation. I am gratefull for the consideration, but
would rather, if it were an option, work for you in the AI Lab with
the mobile robots.
If you are taking on UROP students as part of your research
group, I would greatly appreciate your consideration.
As we discussed breifly last week, at present, my interests
lean toward hardware (particularly digital design); as I've mentioned,
my current experience in this area is virtually nil. However, you are
familiar, somewhat, with my coding ability and approach to problems.
I believe I would prove useful, possibly coding and helping more
exprience people with hardware debugging to begin with. From this, I
can gain some experience and further understanding of the hardware
design and hopefully "boot-strap" myself into a more knowledgeable and
useful role in the research team.
Please let me know if this is possible, as I should probably
reply to the head 6.001 TA shortly.
	Thank you.

the campus network, and Tymnet to access multics from Louisiana.]

Thanks for the consideration. I will definitely take 6.111 next
term (despite the horror stories my friends keep telling me...:-)).
I will certainly be checking back with you about the Spring
term.
