Subject: Pound Cake

Hello,

This is Aimee NVWLS. I am writing this from the R/O account
because teela is down and I wanted to get this out.

			POUND CAKE

3 cups flour 1 cup milk
3 cups sugar 5 eggs
1 cup butter (margarine) 1 t almond extract
1/2 cup shortening (I prefer Crisco)	2 t vanilla
1/4 t baking powder

Cream together the shortening and the butter. Slowly add the sugar to
the mixture, creaming it in as you go. Add eggs one at a time. (a
mixer is handy from this point on, but I have done it by hand -- it's
not difficult) Add flour, baking powder, and milk gradually --
alternating between the wet and dry ingredients. Once well-mixed,
i.e. no visable lumps, add flavorings.

Start cake in a cold oven (don't preheat). Bake at 325F for 1 hour 25
minutes. (or thereabouts -- the cake I made Sunday baked for 1 hr 40
minutes) Top with powdered sugar, whipped cream, strawberries, etc if
desired.

There you are. Enjoy...

NVWLS
