GitLab is a web-based Git repository manager with many features and used by more than 100.000 organizations including for example NASA and Alibaba. It also features an very long standing entry on the "Wanted Ports" list of the FreeBSD Wiki.

In the last quarter there was a steady progress in the project itself and the porting. The current release of GitLab 8.3 is now based on Rails 4.2, which obsoletes the need of around 50 new ports. Now there are only 5 open dependencies left!

While the new version of GitLab 8.3 eases the porting, there are big changes between the last working port of GitLab 7.14. But it could be expected to see the next working port in the first quarter of 2016
