Since its inception during World War II, the Laundry has worked to
keep the world safe from incursion of malevolent extradimensional
entities. Part of this involves researching new technologies to keep
the demons out, because they're definitely figuring out new ways to
tear open gates to this world. To this end, the Laundry created the
Paranormal Research division to keep track of new discoveries and make
sure the Laundry is in possession of the latest technologies.

Recently, things have been strange at Dunwich, at least, stranger than 
normal. Lesser demons have been appearing sporadically on base and many 
of the computers have been malfunctioning. These signs point to the 
existence of an unstable gate somewhere in the training centre, but no 
one has actually managed to find it yet. You think you might be able to 
construct something to close the rift, if you can find it. You're pretty 
sure the blueprints for what you need are in a computer somewhere on 
base\ldots

In addition to the strange breakages and demons running around, you've
noticed that {\cNegotiator{\intro}} has been acting kind of strange
lately. \cNegotiator{\They}'s been easily startled, jumping at shadows
and snapping at people. This isn't too surprising -- in your line of
work, you've seen lots of people snap. It is, however, possibly
curable. You might be able to help \cNegotiator{\them}, but
\cNegotiator{\they} has to be willing to be helped and come to you
first.
