Minutes of the SIPB Meeting of 2010-05-24


The meeting was called to order at gdb by 19:30:00.

Officer Reports:

gdb: So, I hear we got a sipb meeting tonight

gdb so I think I know enough of the format of this. Do we have any officer reports?
Ben appears to have an officer reporrt
kaduk: You should still spend money, I'm thinking about ways that we might
I'm thinking about an office head or maybe a spare server. We have 3200 to burn

gdb: couch?
lizdenys: that would be a really a really swanky ass-couch.
kaduk: I thought we might
gdb: I move that we have a straw poll
jhawk: no, you dont
gdb: I object!
The question I propose to the board: which would you like to 
purchase with our $3200.
kaduk: the options are an office head, a server, or furniture
jhawk: will there or will there not be an other?
gdb: no

I am currently runnng a meeting.
We have a new secretary, because our other secretary has left us for better
cambridges, except not for the summer

quentin: We might call him an isecretary.
Liz: Does that make him imaginary? Should we plot him in the complex
plane?
quentin: It stands for interim.
gdb: I would not accept a secretary who took minutes on
an ipad.

SIPB Projects Report:

jaiwen: so I've been trying to get us an ipohone dev certificate
we have a new mailing list iphone.mit.edu
and you can blanche yourselves on it as soon as I figure out how.
I've determined that we want a company certificate, but they require a charter
I think we can use MIT's charter. This should be fine, but..
jhawk: the concern is that if you are asked to execute a document
that document requires review.
there is no reason to stop until someone asks you to sign something

Jaiwen : I did ask the mit Iphone developers..didnt get a 
response. I'll, just basically keep going until someone asks
me to sign something


kaduk : I took one of the HP ProLiant DL380 and built BSD on it it is now
freebuild.mit.edu

quentin: mirrors had an outage last night...this morning for about 3-4 hours
when we tried to upgrade the firmware on the isilon.

gdb: anygit is moving along and I want to launch soon to use up my
facebook ads
liz: can we have an anygit launch party?
gdb: yes, we can.

gdb: I'm trying to index linux.git. I think if I can index this I
can index anything.
If you go to anyg.it you will see that it looks like.

Office Report:
jhawk: So I think we have a shortage of serial cables in the office
ben, is that accurate?
kaduk: yes
jhawk: so I move we allocate $100 
quentin: second.
white ballot passes.

dwilson: zhangc and I are organizing the bookshelf
there is currently one box of old books on the back shelf
jhawk: I'm puzzled why a box of books couldn't go on a 
bookshelf which is designed for their weight.
also, I would suggest you orient it with the booktitles showing
gdb: can we offline this?
