and all around great guy

p.s. Remember to Read the Rush-94-Info in this directory as it
has a nice list of stuff you should buy and things you should be
prepared for.

TOWER DROP:
Tower drop has been cancelled permanently because of people
who believe that this might give suicidal people ideas. Like yeah a
freaking 16 story building usually doesn't inspire ideas anyways
right? I was the last person to ever be in charge of a tower drop
(RUSH 96) so if it ever does happen again feel free to reach me. By
the time this happens you could probably reach me at eam@alum.mit.edu

CARNIVAL:
The carnival guy brings his stuff and he leaves with it at the
end of the day. We don't keep anything here it is his stuff. We got
the jousting ring, which everyone loved, the dunk tank which is a must
(the house president always goes in) and cotton candy machine is
always fun. Most of the other stuff they have is just too big too fit
in the space we have. Remember to have Bob leave some kind of key or
tool or whatever so that the carnival guy can turn on the water
without lots of problems like last year. We also had a cartoonists
come in, we got some company that hangs out in Fanieul and they send
someone over, with special paper that said "MacGregor Rush '97" on it.
The carnival people always ask for a heavy duty extension cord. If
Bob doesn't have one you can get them at Home Depot, don't get it from
economy cause those cords suck.

BBQ:
The BBQ's are non stop or better said at noon 6pm and midnight
as soon as we can start: ie. if kickoff is at 1pm on saturday we have a
bbq at 6pm minight, noon, 6pm and so on until rush is over. It is our
trademark event and we've had it like that since forever. The BBQ's
go on no matter what. See if Bob would like to requisition some
sturdy tables like the ones in the courtyard except smaller for the
BBQ pits. I doubt he will but we could really use them there.
REMEMBER TO GET LOTS OF BREAD. If you get a ton of bread to begin
with you can always use it for the later BBQ's, we were always running
out of bread. Get lots of soda and remember to get a couple bottles
of diet crap for those annoying nitwits who wont leave you alone
because they are diabetics (j/k). DONT GET CHICKEN. It does not
cook well on these grills at all. It isn't worth the effort.
Cheap hamburger patties, hotdogs, cheese, ketchup and mustard is
basically all you need.
______________________________________________________________________
MOVIES:
The movies pretty much go on non stop in the lounge in front of
desk. First ask Bob if he is going to have desk open 24 hours like he
usually does. If so then put the TV out in the lounge in front of
desk. People will just pop in movies as they go. Make sure the
deskworker never closes desk ever because then a very expensive TV
will walk away.
Have some bags of assorted candy at the Rush Desk so that
people can snack on stuff while they are watching the movies.

FONDUE:
I think there was a crock pot in the back of MacGregor
convenience in the store room, we "borrowed" it for a while. Sergio
was the one that got the recipes for the fondue, he said he just got
it off the web searching for fondue, it is pretty much just melt
chocolate chips with milk. For stuff to dip with we used strawberries,
bananas, pound cake and other edible stuff.
______________________________________________________________________
DAIQUIRI:
We just went to BJ's and bought shitloads of Bacardi daiquiri
mix. One of you guys should get a BJ's card. You are going to need a
few blenders you can get those at BJ's also. The house usually has
blenders however they are usually broken. The blenders don't last
long, everytime the house buys them the motor burns out from over use.
We used two blenders and it was just fine. They aren't that expensive
______________________________________________________________________
TOURS:
People who will get lost should not be allowed to give tours,
it doesn't matter if you are short ten people. We had someone who was
nice enough to give a tour, although I'm not sure why because I didn't
ask him too, and this person got lost in the low rise. Not just
anyone should be able to give tours, they should be hand picked from
the early returns. Don't pay attention to anyone of your friends who
says they can give tours because it isn't a big deal. It is a big
deal and you should only give it to people who are articulate, can
respond to questions, know how to evade stupid questions, and actually
know the layout of the dorm. Try not to be rude but this is the first
impression of MacGregor that the freshmen get and we don't want them
to think that we are a bunch of loser idiots.

MUSIC:
We put the house stereo in the J-entry lounge, fourth floor I
think. We played good music, not Guster crap! Anyways the previous
year this anal-retentive J-entry resident kept turning off the stereo
because it was annoying him. Last year I just kept making sure that
someone was around taking care of it most of the time, and I also put
a big sign on it so that no one would play with it. You have to be
aware that there are certain times when you can't play music, like
when it gets night, say 9 or 10, because the CPs get real mad!
MacGregor also has a microphone that I used to scream at people as
they were walking by. I'd be like "Hey you in the shorts, get over
here and get some free food, blah blah blah blah blah"
______________________________________________________________________
MACGREGOR SIGN:
I made a sign from 9 sheets of wood that Nelson hung up for
me. I don't remember the rooms off hand but I have the list somewhere
and nelson might remember which rooms they are. It doesn't matter who
is in the room, if there is a resident in there just tell them a week
beforehand, it really isn't much trouble, you hang the board inside
the window and then you close the curtains. I will try and fix the
signs again this year all you guys have to do is find them for me,
they are scattered throughout the tower and in the basement.
