Computerized Literature Search Service (CLSS) MIT Libraries Located in the Science Library (14S-M48) Phone: (617) 253-7746 / Fax: (617) 258-8303 The Computerized Literature Search Service (CLSS), a fee-based unit of the MIT Libraries, offers online literature searching of commercially available databases. The result is a customized bibliography of publications such as journal articles, conference papers, technical reports, and patents. CLSS service is available to MIT students, faculty, and staff, as well as companies and persons not affiliated with MIT. Ordinarily, CLSS searches are done on an appointment basis and take an average of 1-2 hours, including consultation and online time. Users of the service are strongly encouraged to be present at CLSS during the search process, although it is not absolutely required. Once the online session has begun, the user can provide immediate feedback to help fine-tune the search strategy. Please note: MIT-affiliated persons are eligible for quick, limited, free online searching at any of the MIT Libraries reference desks; MIT undergraduates are eligible for more extensive free online searches at the reference desks. [When search requests exceed the limitations set for free reference desk searches, reference librarians direct users to CLSS for assistance.] Below is an electronic form which you may use to notify CLSS of your interest in initiating a literature search. Once the CLSS staff has received your form, you will be contacted--by phone, if possible--to set up an appointment for your search. [For even faster assistance in arranging an appointment, you may phone CLSS directly at 253-7746 or stop by the CLSS office, on the first mezzanine of the Science Library (14S-M48), during normal business hours.] The CLSS staff can answer any questions you may have concerning the suitability of your topic for retrieval via an online search, the databases accessible to CLSS, the likely cost of a search on your topic, etc. Name: Daytime Phone: Company or MIT Dept./Lab: Address: Status: Research___ Faculty___ Grad___ UGrad___ Staff___ ILO___ Other___ Please give a brief title to your search:
